Sekhukhune United, also known as “Babina Noko,” was founded in 2019 as African All-Stars in the ABC Motsepe League. Since then, the club has evolved significantly and made its mark in the South African football scene.
Following the Glad Africa championship status acquisition from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila Football Club in September 2020, Sekhukhune United Football Club was officially launched on 5 November 2020. The club’s commitment to excellence was highlighted during the event, where a proposed 3-year plan to compete in the DSTV Premiership was unveiled.
During the 2020/21 season, Sekhukhune United’s remarkable performance led them to become Champions of the GladAfrica Championship, now recognized as the “Motsepe Foundation Championship.” Subsequently, the club achieved commendable 11th, 7th, and 4th league positions in the DSTV Premiership over the following seasons, along with qualifications to prestigious tournaments such as the MTN 8 and the CAF Confederation Cup. Notably, the club reached the finals of the Nedbank Cup in the 2022/23 season.
